Salt Lake City, UT: Chanon Thai Cafe- Thai

Chanon Thai Cafe- 278 East 9th South Salt Lake City, UT

4 out of 5. This is the best Thai restaurant I’ve been to outside of Thailand. We have been going to this restaurant even before we moved to Salt Lake City. I love soup; good, ok, bland, over seasoned, it’s one of those foods that if it is close enough to good, I will take it. If you can do soup right, then it’s magic and I knew this was a good restaurant with my first bite of their soup.

If you are there for dinner, it is worth it to order a big bowl of soup for the table. Not only is the flavor amazing, the presentation really adds to the experience. A big bowl is about 9 bucks and you can get 6+ cups out of it.

They do not have a children’s menu, but one dish is large enough for two people, especially if you add in the soup. Adrian loves their Pad Thai and is content to have leftover for lunch. We have liked everything we have ordered. I always have a hard time straying from the Gang Massaman at any Thai restaurant, and here is no exception. Even their cashews seems extra tasty! I truly feel there is a depth to their foods that a lot of restaurants (not just Thai) lack. The decor and atmosphere are fun. The plates are a mix and match from the sixties and seventies and the wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
