Salt Lake City, UT: Blue Plate Diner

Blue Plate Diner- 2041 South 21st East Salt Lake City, UT

3.2 out of 5  Fun decor, nice staff, and good milkshakes. Our first visit was a mom and son date  and we split a gigantic plate of cheese fries and each had a strawberry milkshake. The fries were waffle fries and we could not finish the plate. Adrian had lost his front teeth, but was very ready to tackle the fries. The portions were what you would expect from a diner, but the quality of food is a definite step up, there were chunks of fresh strawberries in the shake.

They even make their own veggie burger (as seen on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives):

We have gone back as a family and really enjoy the unique Vegetarian/Vegan take on traditional food.  They have a nice selection of breakfast and lunch/dinner items on the kid’s menu for about $4-$5 and the adult menu breakfast/lunch/dinner is $8-$10 a plate. Kevin really enjoyed the Portabella Reuben and thought the mushroom went well and the sauerkraut was tasty. Like usual, I couldn’t refuse the Eggs Benedict. They overcooked my eggs, but did not hesitate to make up some more. They had a nice, thick slice of Canadian bacon and tomato. The decor on the inside is fun, but we prefer the outside, my only complaint is the music is too quiet to hear.
